Snow fell from a blizzard in South Dakota October 4th, 2013 that has producers tallying their losses.
Up to four feet of snow was dumped in just a few hours in many areas of the state. This left cattle producers hopeing to dig out the cattle hoping to rescure a many of the herds as possible. Herd losses in South Dakota could be anywhere from 5%-6%.
More bad news on October 8th reports herd losses at 60,000 head. Other states that are tallying ag related losses from the snow are, Colorado and Wyoming.
